The ToughCut Industrial Wood Surface Planer was conceived in Western Australia — where red dirt meets red gum, and tradespeople have long faced some of the toughest conditions and hardest timbers in the world.

WA is home to some of the planet’s most demanding hardwoods: Jarrah, Marri, Karri — dense, beautiful, and notoriously difficult to machine. Local fabricators and timber workers needed something better. Something stronger. Something built for our unique landscape.

Drawing inspiration from WA’s resource-rich geology, the heart of this machine lies in tungsten, a rare and ultra-hard metal found in deposits across the state and up through Northern Queensland. With WA’s proud mining legacy, it was only natural that this element — known for strength and heat resistance — became symbolic of the ToughCut name and its industrial-grade tooling.

Designed in collaboration with European manufacturers, the machine combines continental precision with the kind of rugged durability that’s essential in Aussie workshops. Its reinforced frame ensures vibration-free operation, even when feeding the gnarliest slabs of native hardwood.

From local sheds in Perth’s suburbs to mill workshops in the South West, the ToughCut Planer was built with one goal: to handle the timber that built this country.
